We recently transformed a suite of training rooms for the Defence Forces. The works consisted of painting a number of instruction rooms, offices and associated stairwells in the area referred to as the BTC block in Cathal Brugha Barracks

We used a range of different products throughout and based this selection on the type of use each area got

The ceilings and walls in the instruction rooms and office were finished in vinyl matt emulsion while the woodwork was finished in an oil based gloss finish

The passageway and stairwells were finished in an acrylic eggshell finish. Acrylic means that product is water based. As it has an eggshell finish it has a 25% level of sheen making the paint more durable than vinyl matt emulsion. We chose this product because it’s hard wearing and the tight and narrow stairwell and passageways get a lot of people passing through each day
